Certified copies
A certified copy is a statement of fact about the
details of any pending application or registered mark. The statement
will be certified as true by an official of the Trade Marks Registry.
Certified copies are requested for many purposes,
the most common being:
- for use in obtaining registration abroad;
- to confirm the registration details;
- to provide proof of registration, renewal, etc.,
for foreign registries;
- to support the application or registration in legal
proceedings;
- to confirm that a particular registration covers
certain goods that may not be listed in detail in the specification
of goods;
- information about licensee and assignment details.
Note:
As from 1 January 2001, the Registry is no longer
producing "non-standard" certificates for use in certain
overseas countries. This action has been cleared with each of the
countries concerned, but if you encounter any difficulties with
any overseas registry, please inform Roger Evans, Deputy Head, Trade
Marks Administration, telephone +44 (0)1633 811092.
